Chatter Chums: Week Two
For Monday's Lessons, watch the 'S' Episode!
Tuesday
Find two different containers - things like two large bowls
Gather items that start with the ‘s’ sound
(like soap, salt, spoon, cell phone) and things that do not start with the ‘s’ sound (like pen, fork, key, crayon)
Have your child sort the things that start with the ‘s’ sound in one container and the things that do not start with the ‘s’ sound in the other container
Wednesday
Play ‘I Spy’ in the kitchen. Gather two of each items - cups, plates, forks, and pots
Say to your child, “I will say, ‘I spy one thing’ and you say ‘I spy two things’”. I will go first - “I spy one cabinet.” Lead your child to say, “I spy two cabinets.”
I spy one cup. (I spy two cups)
I spy one fork. (I spy two forks)
I spy one plate. (I spy two plates)
I spy one pot. (I spy two pots)
Thursday
Have your child say the names of the pictures. The ‘s’ sound is at the beginning of the word.
Friday
Continue ‘writing’ the story
Review your title and what the author and illustrator do
Talk about all the things you see in the picture
predict what the story is about
who the characters are
what the setting is (where and when the
story takes place)
